photo shoot!

Today I had my photo shoot with the fabulous Lauri, and I’m so excited about it I can’t even wait for the photos to get to me before I start writing about it!

She took photos of my recently finished slouch hat, magi-cowl, and almost mittens that are soooo much better than the ones I took.  Hooray!

Oh ya, and be on the look out for the patterns for all three… coming soon… and two of  them will be free!  Can you guess which ones?

So y’all just have to wait to see the beautiful shots she got… haha!

Slouchy Baby Chicken Eggs!

Okay, you got me, all of the things in the title don’t go together!  But it’s all what’s going on with me today on this BEAUTIFUL day here in Austin.

First of all, I finished the slouch hat I was working on.  It has a lacy pattern, but it didn’t come out very nicely.  I’m thinking about giving it another try and altering it a bit, maybe no lacy, or something that might stand out better… what do you think?  Any suggestions?

Second, my friend is having her baby right now!!!!  Many strong momma blessings and thoughts are coming your way right now!  Hooray!!

And finally, yesterday, the days crossed over the threshold to be long enough for our wonderful chickens to start making their delicious eggs again.  Yay!

This is our favorite chicken of the flock, her name is Sexy.  She’s super sweet and loves to be picked up and petted.

And this is the mean one… she’s a trouble maker too… always trying to escape and wander the neighborhood.  Her name is Rocky.

Oh my gosh!  In the time that it took me to get from writing about my friend being in labor to the end of this post she has had her baby!  Her name is Carson Anne, and she is perfect!!!!  Congratulations!

What a magical day!

Love and Light,

Annie

Slouch Hat

Just started working on a slouch hat pattern using some nice, bulky, deep magenta yarn…. really, just started. I’ll post again when there’s more to show.

Magi Cowl

I love this cowl! It’s the first one I’ve designed, and it feels magical, so I’m calling it the “Magi Cowl”.

Block your work people! it’s totally awesome. Before blocking you couldn’t see any of the holes from the lace pattern, and the edges rolled in making it look like a clown collar! Blocking is magic!

Cheers!

Block Experiment

For all these years, I have resisted blocking my work.  Mostly out of laziness, I think.  But not this time!  I just finished designing this lovely little lacy cowl, and I decided that today was the day I was going to finally try blocking something.  I followed instructions I found in the article To Block or Not to Block by Jessica Fenlon Thomas on knitty.com.

Here is the before picture:

And here it is after (I laid it out on a folded up towel sitting in a glass pan):

I’m hoping that the edges will continue to lay down once it’s dried out.  And I can already see how it makes the lace stitch stand out.

Now we just wait a day or two until it dries!

Cheers!

Blue Monday :: 7

Good morning!

It is a beautiful morning here in Austin, and I’m feeling whimsical, just like this little blue loch ness monster.  Thanks to kathrynivy.com for uploading it to Flickr, where I found it.  The pattern can be found at hansigurumi.etsy.com.

Think I’ve got some designing and photograph taking in me today!

Cheers!

Another oldie here… must have been about five years ago now. I love this one; should have kept it instead of selling it!
