{this moment} is a Friday ritual inspired by one of my favorite bloggers ~ Soulemama.  In her perfect words:

“A single photo – no words  – capturing a moment from the week.  A simple, special, extraordinary moment.  A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.  If you’re inspired to do the same, leave a link to your ‘moment’ in the comments for all to find and see.”

Audiobooks My Kids Love

We love books around our house. Picture books, chapter books, read aloud books, and audiobooks.
I wanted to share a few of our favorite children’s audiobooks. My girls, who are 7 and 4 years old, will listen to these stories time and time again. And here’s the clincher – so will I!
Usually the audiobooks come out when momma just has to get some chores done, which means I will often be listening to them too. And I guess I’m kind of picky about audiobooks. My kids would love to sit around listening to Magic Tree House stories all day long, but not I! So here are a few of our favorites that pass both the kid test, AND the momma test.
These are all great stories narrated by fabulous readers. I hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

1. Where the Mountain Meets The Moon, written by Grace Lin, narrated by Janet Song
 2. How to Train Your Dragon, written by Cressida Cowell, narrated by David Tennant… and all the others in this series!

3. A Bear Called Paddington, written by Michael Bond, narrated by Stephen Fry

4. Winnie-the-Pooh, written by A.A. Milne, narrated by Peter Dennis

5. Rapunzel and Other Stories (including The Tinder Box, The Frog Prince & Dick Whittington), released by AudioGO Ltd, narrated by Tamsin Greig & Stephen Mangan

Happy Listening!

Annie ~ the Happy Day Momma

A Little Something Sweet

Sheesh! I’ve been away from this blog for a LONG time! Life has brought some lovely changes our way lately.

First of all, we moved a few months ago, and now we are WAY closer to the Waldorf school were, in a mere three weeks, both of my girlies will be in full day school, five days a week! I know, whoa, what’s a mama to do?! Well, I am seriously ramping up my piano lessons (I teach at Wildflower School of Music in Dripping Springs). And I also hope to be able to spend more time knitting and developing patterns again.

The one I’ve been developing lately is a sweet little doll dress. It fits both our Waldorf dolls, and our 18 inch American girl dolls. And it looks adorable on both!

I have two more on my needles right now, but here is a photo of the one I have finished so far.

And, if you are curious about the move, here are some photos of the new place… Which just happens to be our own little mini farm!

The girls new bedroom……

The new chicken coop…….

The new baby bunnies…….

The new goat……

And last, but not least, the new kitties…..

Now y’all probably need some time to process all this sweetness, so I’ll let you have a moment to yourselves… See you soon!

Half Lotus Bunting

Recently I’ve rediscovered my love of crocheting. And it’s come in the form of crocheted buntings, or garlands. I started with granny triangle buntings, which I am still loving, but have started branching out to other shapes as well. And today I worked up these little lovies that I’m calling the Half Lotus Bunting. It’s for a special mama I know…shhh, don’t tell my mom!

More finished pics and free pattern to come!

sittin’ & waitin’

Ok, I guess this isn’t exactly blue… But it’s kind of purple! Sitting in the car waiting to pick up the littles and working on a pair of almost mittens for Lu.

I’m using a beautiful variegated Cascade 220 on size 6 needles. Cast on 30 stitches. Look for the next post to see how many rows I end up with!

my first socks!

Two thirds of the way into my first pair of socks and I am just smitten! They are adorable little bed socks that will be perfect with a pair of clogs… If only I hadn’t given my clogs away… Guess I’ll have to get another pair!

I’m using the Turkish Bed Socks pattern by Churchmouse Yarns and Teas.

And now, the hunt for more fabulous sock yarn begins!

car knitting

Sitting in the car while the baby naps in the back… Don’t worry, the AC is on!

Always have a knitting project close by in case you get an opportunity to work on it!

This is a pinwheel blanket that I’m making for Amelia.
