WIP Wednesday

Guess this is not officially a “work in progress” anymore, but I wanted to share anyhow.  The first pair of newborn longies are officially finished!

All finished, drawstring and everything! Aren't they cute?!

And yesterday I started on the second pair in this lovely Araucania yarn, with subtle greens, browns and yellows.  I’m using a dark chocolate brown Cascade 220 for the trim.

Newborn longies #2

I’ve tried so many longies patterns and never found one that really fit perfect, so I’ve been working on writing out my own pattern… it’s been a long, long road, but it will be finished one of these days!

I’ll be sure to keep you posted!

Blue Monday :: 9

This evening I’m listening to Blue Monday on the radio and finishing up this lovely *tiny* little pair of longies (wool pants used to cover cloth diapers – the wool serves as a water proof cover).  The first of many to be made for Baby Moo.  I just have to finish the chord and they’re all done!

What do you think?

Craft Room Disaster Area

So… my craft room/office is a bit of a disaster area…

For years now it’s been the “don’t know where to put it?  just throw it in the office!” room.  But not for long!

I just got home from an epic trip to Ikea where I got an awesome wooden shelving units that is sure to rock my world.

I thought it might be fun to post some before and after photos… so here goes!

Imagine that you just walked into the room and you’re panning from right to left.  This is what you would see.  Now don’t laugh, because it’s really bad!

Pile o' desk and shelves

shelf number one and half of the clutter pile

the clutter pile and shelf number two

the amazing space wasting wall nook and the closet door

Here’s the plan…

Replace shelves number one and two and the clutter pile with these:

goes in the corner

two of these - one on each side of the corner shelf

Then I can start getting organized with these:

I got two pink and one turquoise, no black

three of these linen colored boxes and four more in the same style that are not quite as tall

I’ve also got quite a few baskets, and boxes laying around that I’ll use.  And I’ll probably hit up Hobby Lobby, Tuesday Morning, TJ Max and Ross for more discount storage bins.

I’d like to put some funky wall decals above the shelving unit… maybe like these

…or these…

Oh yeah, and I plan to utilize the amazing space wasting wall nook by placing a pathos ivy, or perhaps a money tree in it… but probably a pathos ivy… even though I really like the idea of having a money tree in my craft room/office, pathos ivies are one of the only plants I seem to be able to keep alive, and a dead money tree sounds like bad joo-joo.

So, what do you think?  Any more ideas or suggestions?

Newborn Longies Numero Uno

I’m working on the first of many pairs of newborn longies for Baby Moo.

These are knitting up very nicely in a colorway of cool blues with navy blue trimming.

They are so tiny… it’s absurdly cute!

I just split the knitting into two and seamed up the crotch to start the legs this evening.

What do you think so far?

(Can you guess which pic I took with the hipstamatic app on my phone?)

WIP Wednesday… I mean Thursday

With the arrival of Baby Moo rapidly approaching, I’m committing myself to finishing up some projects that I’ve been working on for WAY too long.

Here are a few that are in the final stages.

First up, the Little Lulan Dress (formally known as the Little Sister Dress)…  I’ve finished all the knitting, and all I have left to do is put on the buttons and sew in the ends.

Next up, I have the very first knitted item that I have completed for Baby Moo (which is so sad, because by this point in my pregnancy with Lulan I had probably made her at least five or six knitted treasures)… an Owlie Sleep Sack!  I still need to block this, but here’s what it looks like pre-blocked.

It has tiny little cabled owls around the top of the sack… but I think it’s interesting how the whole thing kind of looks like an owl too.

I actually altered this pattern a little bit to leave the bottom open with a drawstring so we can get in to change diapers easily.  And because it’s made of wool, we can use it as a cloth diaper cover as well!

What are you working on this week?  I’d love to see, so please share!
