WIP Wednesday

After much deliberation and soul searching (okay, maybe not soul searching) I have finally succumbed to the urge to jump on the band wagon and start doing “WIP Wednesdays”.  For those of you who don’t know, “WIP” is an acronym for “work in progress”.  So, with no further ado, here are some WIPs for today…

Flower Petal Shawl

(free pattern from Elann.com)

Two fish tails down… only ten more to go!

The Stash Buster Afghan

I started working on this afghan about 4 years ago when we lived in Boulder, Colorado… put it away for a LONG time and just got it out again.

I’m using all of my left over stash yarn (hence the name) on this one.  Mostly it’s all worsted weight, single ply, but there are a few other random things thrown in here and there (some bulky single ply and some worsted multi-ply) .

It has gone in and out of the dresser several times over the last four years.  Previously it has been my “movie watching project” and my “wine drinking project”, due to it’s super simple “k1, p1” pattern but most recently I took it out as something that I can work on while sitting in a mostly dark room waiting for my little one to fall asleep.  I usually only get two or three rows done in a sitting, so this is still a very long term project!

Cheers!

Annie

A Certain Someone’s Kerchief…

Just knit up this delicious kerchief for a certain someone who cannot be named… smiles… wonder who it might be?

Hmmm… and what’s that underneath that yummy green kerchief?  Could it be a tantalizing stack of knitting books?  Why yes, it is!  And right there on the top is my current read, A History of Hand Knitting by Richard Rutt, and it’s absolutely fascinating.  I just love that the cover depicts both women and men knitting, so cool.

On that note, I’d like to say how thankful I am that someone, a long time ago, invented knitting!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Meow Head Hits the Streets

This shot was sent in to me by Juno.

Nice color, huh?
I always love to see what kinds of different textures and colors folks use when they knit up my patterns.

If you have a shot of something that you’ve knit up from one of my patterns, send it my way. Who knows, maybe you’ll make the blog or be the next model for one of my Etsy listings!

Blue Monday : 1

november rain, originally uploaded by sew-mad.

Thought I’d steal a great idea from my favorite public radio station, KUT.

A lifetime ago I used to get together every Monday evening with my best lifeguard buddies to play cards and listen to Blue Monday – an amazing radio blues show. Those were good times…

In memory of those “good times”, I am starting a new thing here in my little blog world… Blue Monday. Every Monday I will post something blue from the wonderful world of fiber arts.

So, with no further ado… the first Blue Monday entry… “november rain”.

It was hard to pick just one from all the great shots I found out there, but since my toes are feeling a bit chilly right now, I thought I’d go with these lovely, swirly, very blue, knee highs.

my first knit baby bunting

knit baby bunting, originally uploaded by happyday.etsy.com.

This is the first baby bunting that I ever knit… I loved it so much! I used Lamb’s Pride Bulky and then used some super soft mohair yarn to make the little hat and scarf… so sweet!

Raspberries & Chocolate Baby Gnome

Woo boy! Being pregnant and chasing a toddler around sure does ware you out! Oh ya, so I’m pregnant… ***smiles***

Seeing as how I’ve not been getting too much new work done due to my new found exhaustion, I’ve decided to post a few photos from my archives of long lost work.

I made this sweet little gnome many years ago, and I am currently working on a pattern based off of this picture.

I’ll keep y’all posted on the progress of the pattern as it comes along.

Girl’s dress

Girl’s dress, originally uploaded by swissgirl.

Found this on Flickr, and I think it’s so sweet and simple. I can’t wait to make one for Lulan. It seems like it would be good for winter with a long sleeve shirt and some leggings, and for summer as well… hmmm, multi-seasonal clothing…
