arrrgh!!

So, I had a severe case of mommy brain when I was doing the calculations for the size of the longies that I was working on and they ended up being about 3 inches too wide through the booty… ARRRGH!!!

I had to rip out the knitting all the way back down to the ribbed waist.  Bummer!

I went back and recalculated, took out 12 stitches, and have  re-knitted back to the legs and am about half way finished with the first one.

I’ll be sure to post pictures of the longies when I’m finished.

For those of you who are beginner knitters, it may bring you some comfort to know that I have been knitting for 23 years and I am still totally vulnerable to this kind of brain blip while knitting… very humbling.

What doing Momma?

I have a two year old little girl who’s favorite question is “What doing Momma?” Ninety percent of the time my answer is “I’m knitting”. And that’s what this blog is all about – what I’m up to with my needles and yarn, with a dash of that other ten percent occasionally thrown in to keep it interesting.

I am a mom and piano teacher by day, and a pattern designer by night (and any other tiny speck of time I can pick up my needles!). So most of my knitting adventures are some form of a pattern I am in the process of creating. But I also knit custom longies, shorties and soakers (which are cloth diaper covers).

Today I’m sharing the pair of custom longies (toddler pants) that I’m working on.

The yarn is Mosaic Moon in Birthday Boy colorway, and it’s absolutely scrumptious!

I’m knitting them from the top down, so the ribbing that you see is the waist.
